I met this amazing dog at last Saturday’s Dog Day at the Egleston Farmers Market. I was talking to a couple of guys, and they asked, “You’ve met Vegas, right?” They looked shocked that I hadn’t met her yet, as if to say “Vegas is THE J.P. Dog.”

So I quickly introduced myself to Vegas’ human, Kate, who is the passionate organizer behind Egleston Farmers Market. (I’m ashamed to say that this was the first time I went to this market, and it’s really great. If you’ve never been, do yourself a favor and go!)

Anyway, when Kate heard that I was asking around about this Vegas gal, she arranged for her to make a stop by. Oh, and did she stop. This gigantic sweetheart probably stops traffic wherever she goes. It’s safe to say that Vegas does at least run this part of J.P. And as she should.

Dog: Vegas is a seven and a half year old American Mastiff. Officially she goes by the name Little Miss Vegas.

Human: Vegas, and her human Kate live near Egleston Square and Franklin Park. Kate’s made J.P. her home for the past 15 years.

Does your J.P. Dog have any funny quirks, odd behaviors, or defining characteristics? “Vegas has amazing tiger stripes, loves to nibble / worry fabric and blankets, and loves little dogs and babies strapped in strollers (a captive audience!)”

What do you love most about your J.P. Dog? “That she is happy to see me every morning and that she is content to just be where I am.”

Anything else you’d love to share about your J.P. Dog? “She is way more popular than me.”
