Once in a while, I profile a former J.P. Dog, in this case one who started to howl when I said hello to her outside of the City Feed on Centre Street. Turns out she’s a howling maestro. (Continue for more photos of Riley!)
About this formerly J.P. Dog and her humans:
Riley, who also goes by Bessie, Ms., and B, is a nearly 5 year old Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. She was adopted from a woman in Maryland who was terminally ill.
Riley lives with her humans, Beth and Dan and their two teenagers. Beth is a freelance Therapeutic Companion for elders, Reiki Master, and very part-time massage therapist. Riley used to live in J.P., where Beth lived for 19 years, on Seaverns Street, before recently moving. But obviously these two can’t stay away from Jamaica Plain for very long.
Does she have any funny quirks, odd behaviors, or defining characteristics?
She howls if people are singing in her presence. Riley also “talks” when you are done eating and she thinks there is something on your plate of interest to her.
What do you love most about your dog?
She loves to snuggle. And she loves small dogs, if anyone has one that wants a 95 lb canine female play date!
