Rose & Maybelle: Rags to Riches Bitches

IMG_8256

Lucky me that I get to open my email and see glorious photos like this. My night was made.

About these J.P. Dogs:

Rose (3 years old, darker one with brindel) and Maybelle (1 year old, brown one) are mixed breed rescues from Tennessee, who were both adopted at 9 months of age.”We recently did their DNA tests. Rose’s results were part lab, boxer, and treeing walker coonhound, with the rest too mixed to tell. Maybelle’s showed part shepherd, part lab, and the rest too mixed to tell…My tagline for them is ‘Rags to Riches Bitches: From the Streets of Tennessee to a Velvety Couch in JP!”(Continue for 6 more beautiful photos of these two…)

About these J.P. Dog’s humans:

Rose and Maybelle live near Franklin Park with their two humans, Sara Colb, and her husband BJ Ray. “I’ve lived in JP a little over 3 years most recently, but lived here previously as well. My husband BJ has lived here since . . . the 90s maybe?  A long long time.”

BJ is a real estate agent in Jamaica Plain and a fountain of knowledge about all things JP and Boston. Check out his website here. Sara is an attorney and also sings in a band, Sara Colb and the Sagamore James Band. You can hear them play around JP! Check out her website here.

Do your J.P. Dogs have any funny quirks, odd behaviors, or defining characteristics?

We joke about Rose’s sad faces, which we think she practices in the mirror when we aren’t home, with that Sarah McLachlan song playing in the background. Her “long con” is making people think she has a hard life. We know better.

We call Maybelle “the rascal.”  Pretty self explanatory.  Maybelle’s sprit is particularly impressive in light of her rough start in life.  She has two scars on her back where the hair won’t grow back, because some evil f– tied her to a car and dragged her. That’s when she was picked up by animal control and put into foster care.  You would never know she was abused though by her personality – she is so trusting and loving.

What do you love most about your J.P. Dogs?

Everything.

Your J.P. Dog’s favorite outdoor spots in J.P.?

Anything else you’d like to share about your J.P. Dogs?

They make us laugh all the time, and regularly remind us how much better dogs are than humans!
