About this J.P. Dog:
Laika is a 3 year old rescued dachshund. She was adopted in February 2015 from Little Paws Dachshund Rescue. Laika was named after the first animal in orbit, a Soviet cosmonaut dog.” (Continue for 3 more photos…)
About this J.P. Dog’s humans:
Laika lives with her people, Wes and Rane, near Green Street T Station. Wes and Rane have lived in JP for a couple years and “will hopefully never live in a different Boston neighborhood.”
Does your J.P. Dog have any funny quirks, odd behaviors, or defining characteristics?
Laika might be a small part beagle, too, because she can howl like no dachshund can. She loves walks, but her main mission in life is belly rubs.
Your J.P. Dog’s favorite outdoor spots in J.P.?
Laika (and her people) can mostly be spotted wandering the Southwest Corridor Park between Forest Hills and Jackson Square. Other favorite Jamaica Plain locations include the Pond, Arboretum, and outside Canto 6, where Laika inevitably gets lots of pets from kind strangers.
Anything else you’d like to share about your J.P. Dog?
Not much is known about Laika’s past, but it’s safe to say that she is just now learning how to be a dog. She is always sweet with people, and has learned not to be scared of her fellow canines. Hopefully soon she’ll master actually playing with them and can befriend some other JP dogs!
