I spotted the slice on the ground, outside the Southern Jamaica Plain Health Center, but assumed I’d have time to grab it before Arlo did. But in one fell swoop he scooped it up, like he’d been born knowing that if you have to quickly grab a piece of pizza on the run, you always grab it by the crust. It was downright athletic. Of course, then he went into defensive posture, giving me looks like, “Mofo, if you try to take THIS from me, I will bite you. I don’t care whose mama you are. Do you see the size of this piece of pizza???”
I sure did. Since it was practically the size of his whole body, I did not want Arlo ingesting this thing. So I decided to go to battle. First I grabbed and tore at it, getting decent chunks. Meanwhile, he’s trying to gulp the whole thing down, or what was remaining, without even chewing. Time was of the essence, and I didn’t have a single treat on me to try to barter. Arlo and I headed south this past weekend for a few days in Pennsylvania, where I’m from. We pulled into a rest stop and I was on the phone, when I looked over and saw these two star-crossed lovers. Parting was such sweet sorrow.
Arlo was acting crazy pants this morning. Usually while I get dressed he lies on my bed patiently. But today, this rascal starts climbing up the headboard, ready to climb onto my desk which abuts the headboard (I arrange my furniture, how shall we say, unconventionally), and then pauses with his head under the task lamp on my desk. I couldn’t have staged this lamp-cap photo if I’d tried. (Continue for one more photo of my mad hatter…) (more…)
Truth be told, this is not a JP Dog. But since Hamilton’s a 10 week old pug visiting JP, and because, well, look at him, then that makes him JP Dogs-worthy. (Continue for 4 more photos of this rascal…) (more…)
Arlo and I met this little lady, Tiana, the other day. These two were a match made in heaven. I mean how could he resist the tanktop layered over fleece look? I’m hoping to get to feature Ms. Tiana. Stay tuned! (Continue for 2 more photos of these love-dogs…) (more…)
Halle-f’ing-lujah! It’s that blessed time of year when a swing by little City Feed is almost certain to result in a dog-pallooza. Besides my panting guy, Arlo, incidentally there’s inseparable Daffodil and Periwinkle, who I’ve featured on JP Dogs before. I love running into JP Dogs alumni.
Those damn snowbanks, always coming between us. In this case, “us” is Arlo and Sadie, a friend’s JP Dog. Thank the good lord that white stuff’s starting to melt.
From my valentine to yours, hope it’s a cozy day filled with unconditional canine love, and all those others kinds of love!
